Jin-shan Branch of NTU Hospital Inaugurated

The funding for the North-shore Jin-shan Hospital was collectively sought by the Taipei County Government, the four North-shore township offices, and the Taiwan Power Company, whereas its construction was planned by the NTU Hospital. Through the efforts of the different sectors of society, the North-shore Jin-shan Hospital was officially transformed to become the Jin-shan Branch of NTU Hospital on October 1st, 2010, whose opening ceremony was held on October 25th, 2010, with Dr. Ming Fong Chen, President of NTU Hospital, Mr. Ming-Neng Shiu, Director General of the Public Health Bureau of Taipei County, Abbot Quo-Dong of the Dharma Drum Mountain, and Mr. Long-Teng Lee, Chairman of the Jin-shan Branch Hospital jointly officiating the inauguration. The opening ceremony meant that the Jin-shan Branch had been integrated into the health care system of NTU Hospital. In the future, the Jin-shan Branch will strive toward diversification, bringing the teaching and research excellence of National Taiwan University into full play, thereby enhancing the medical standards of North-shore districts, and providing a fresh look of NTU Hospital’s medical technologies to the people in the Jin-shan area.

The original purpose for the construction of the North-shore Jin-shan Hospital was to provide the best medical care to the folks who live in the Jin-shan area so that when they encounter an emergency or get seriously ill, these folks don’t have to travel afar to other municipalities. The Taiwan Power Company, the Public Health Bureau of Taipei County, the township offices of Wan-li, Jin-shan, Shih-men and San-zhi and the NTU Hospital at that time proposed to build a nuclear hospital in the Jin-shan area, and Taiwan Power Company pledged to make a donation, that’s how the North-shore Jin-shan Hospital came into being. The medical teams of NTU Hospital started to move into North-shore Jin-shan Hospital from April of 2008. On August 16th, 2010, NTU Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding with North-shore Jin-shan Hospital, in which both sides agreed to the transfer of ownership and property rights. Finally, on October 1st, 2010, the North-shore Jin-shan Hospital was officially transformed to become “The Jin-shan Branch of NTU Hospital” with a view toward continuing to stick to its social responsibility, fulfilling its mission of “shining on the head of Taiwan, and safeguarding the North-shore,” and living up to the expectation of the villagers.

After the organizational reform, the Jin-shan Branch of NTU Hospital shall continue to take care of the medical needs of local residents, while at the same time reaching out to look after the health care needs of Tai-power Nuclear Plant I and II by developing health management plans for nuclear power plant employees. In addition, it shall develop hot-spring medical care in keeping with governmental policies and the characteristics of the local tourist area. Initially, the Jin-shan Branch will try its best to bring the standards of NTU Hospital to the Jin-shan district, so as to meet the medical needs of local residents. Looking toward the future, the Jin-shan Branch will develop special feature therapies and implement the “5 S” business philosophy, i.e., simplicity (streamlining the processes and reducing cost), speed(improving service quality for internal customers while creating a lively atmosphere for external customers), sophisticated (refined), service (top quality), and separation(special features).
