NTU Delegation Has Busy Schedule in Texas

Associate Dean of International Affairs Hsin-yu Lee and two colleagues had a full platter in Houston, Texas in late May. While in that city to represent NTU at the “NAFSA: Association of International Educators 2012 Annual Conference and Expo,” the NTU delegation also took time to attend the “Taiwan—USA (Texas) Roundtable” and visit the MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Associate Dean Lee’s team represented Taiwan at the NAFSA conference as part of a larger Ministry of Education delegation of 48 people who represented 21 Taiwanese universities and the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan. During the conference, the NTU team introduced NTU’s summer programs at a poster fair and addressed the Taiwan Session. Associate Dean Lee also took this opportunity to meet with officials from almost 40 NTU partner universities.

Before the conference, Lee attended the Taiwan—USA (Texas) Roundtable, which allowed the NTU team to meet with major NTU Texan partner universities Rice University, University of Texas, and University of Houston. Lee also scheduled a stop at Houston’s International Television Channel, where he promoted NTU on an interview program. A Youtube video (http://youtu.be/jBE53H2XlKI) of the program shows him speaking about higher education in Taiwan and touting NTU’s summer programs and NTU as an ideal destination for overseas studies.

During this trip to Texas, Lee’s team also visited the United States’ largest cancer center, the MD Anderson Cancer Center, which is currently in the process of opening a major cancer research center here at NTU.
