Prof. Keh-chung Lin awarded membership of the Academy of Research in Occupational Therapy

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) held the Annual Conference & Centennial Celebration in Philadelphia on April 1. During the conference, Dr. Keh-chung Lin, professor at the School of Occupational Therapy of College of Medicine of National Taiwan University, was awarded membership of the Academy of Research in Occupational Therapy, Bethesda, MD, USA. Since 1983, the AOTA has reviewed the membership eligibility of nominated scholars around the world and cast votes to elect members with prominent academic achievements and contribution to the development of occupational therapy. To date, a total of 66 members have been elected. Among them, Prof. Lin is the first Asian scholar to become a member of the academy, with the other members from countries such as the United States, Canada, Sweden, Australia, and Israel. The reviewers acclaimed Prof. Lin for his academic contribution. This includes his innovative robotic therapy for enhancing recovery from stroke, and success in increasing the credibility of efficacy evaluation. In addition, Dr. Lin invented the criteria for evaluating clinically significant voluntary movements and quality of life. The criteria serve as a reference for patient- and-caregiver-centered communication between doctors and patients. In recent years, Prof. Lin further presented imaging evidence of brain plastic changes caused by stroke rehabilitation. As a scholar whose feats have given rise to innovative therapies, Prof. Lin has received a high recognition from the global medical community for his papers.
