Official launch of the MOST Joint Research Center for AI Technology and All Vista Healthcare at NTU.
The current development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology have attracted worldwide attention and discussion. The “AI Innovation Research Program” vigorously promoted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the Executive Yuan is one of the five major actions for AI scientific research strategy in Taiwan. On January 31, the MOST Joint Research Center for AI Technology and All Vista Healthcare based in National Taiwan University (NTU) held a press conference in the Administration Building of the university. At the press conference, NTU President Tei-Wei Kuo (郭大維), Director Youn-Long Lin (林永隆) of the Program Office of AI Innovation Research, and all the other VIPs together announced the official launch of the MOST Joint Research Center for AI Technology and All Vista Healthcare at NTU.
Prof. Hsin-Hsi Chen (陳信希) and Prof. Li-Chen Fu (傅立成) from the NTU Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering serve as the Joint Center’s director and co-director, and manage the two sub-centers, the AI Technology Center and the All Vista Healthcare Center, respectively.
The Joint Center will coordinate cooperation across fields such as industry, government, academia, research, and medicine. Internally, the Joint Center aims at increasing Taiwan’s AI research capacity, nurturing high-level R&D personnel, enhancing the AI industry, and promoting research results to facilitate social and economic development. Externally, the Joint Center hopes that through the publication of high-quality papers, the participation in the smart technology competition, and the coordination of international conferences, it will create a world-class development platform for AI application materials and technologies, and further strengthen Taiwan’s global influence.
Through this platform, the Joint Center also aims to boost the development and validation of various AI applications on biomedical science. With revolutionary AI technology, the Joint Center plans to lead local biomedical teams to upgrade the level of biomedical science in Taiwan, as well as benefit people’s health through disease assessment and monitoring, disease prevention, patient-centric medical systems, and personalized precision medicine. Furthermore, the Joint Center hopes to establish a substantial international research cluster on AI application to biomedical science, thus introducing Taiwan’s significant medical achievements to the world through the wave of AI.
