NTU System members will delay the opening of the 2020 Spring Semester by two weeks.
NTU has decided to upgrade its preventive measures in response to the recent development of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak to ensure campus health and safety.
Starting from March 2, entrance and exit control for buildings on campus would be tightened. The measures taken are as follows and will be reviewed and possibly updated two weeks later according to the development of the outbreak:
- Buildings with crowds will have only one gate open for entrance and exit (e.g., classroom buildings, gymnasiums and sports facilities, libraries, restaurants, and cafeterias) during office hours from 8:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. Everyone entering the building will have their body temperatures taken (by forehead thermometer before thermal imaging cameras are ready).
- Swipe card access control, a measure taken during nighttime, will now be practiced in other general buildings on campus at all times, with every visitor’s information recorded and body temperatures taken. Buildings without a swipe card access control system shall adopt the control measure specified in Measure 1.
- A hand sanitizer and a placard stand shall be prepared at the entrance/exit gate of every building on campus. The placard shall display the following content:
For prevention of Severe Special Infectious Pneumonia (COVID-19), please follow the steps below:
- Wash hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when you cough. Properly dispose of the respiratory secretions.
- Maintain indoor ventilation, keep windows open as much as possible. Avoid crowded places. Refrain from talking when taking an elevator or during a meal. Avoid sharing food.
- If fever or apparent respiratory symptoms occur, do not enter any building on campus. Wear a surgical mask and seek medical attention immediately. If there are only mild respiratory symptoms without fever, wear a surgical mask on campus at all times.
- If you have respiratory symptoms and travel history abroad, contact NTU Health Center, wear a surgical mask, and seek medical attention immediately. If your family members have fevers or respiratory symptoms, do not enter any building on campus or attend any class. Wear a surgical mask and seek medical attention immediately.
