Five NTU Faculty Members Won the 20th Y. Z. Hsu Science Awards.
The list of winners of the 20th Y. Z. Hsu Science Award has been announced recently. Professor Yao-Wen Chang, Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was selected as the 20th Y. Z. Hsu Science Chair Professor and given the award.
The Y. Z. Hsu Science Award gives commendation to those who have made extraordinary contributions in the innovative science areas. The foundation continuously recruits full-time teaching full professors at universities around Taiwan to be Y. Z. Hsu Science Chair Professor. This award includes a trophy and a prize of NT$1,000,000 for every award winner.
Professor Chang was selected as the Y. Z. Hsu Science Chair Professor in the “Information and Communication Science & Technology.” There are also “Nano Science & Technology,” “Optoelectronics Science & Technology,” “Biomedical Science & Technology,” and “Green Science & Technology” among the total five categories.
Four NTU professors won the 20th Y. Z. Hsu Science Paper Awards, also presented by the Far Eastern Y. Z. Hsu Science and Technology Memorial Foundation. Ai-Chun Pang, Associate Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, was presented with the award in the “Information and Communication Science & Technology” category. Hsiao-Chun Huang, Associate Professor of the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology, was presented with the award in the “Biomedical Science & Technology.” Leeyih Wang, Research Fellow of the Center for Condensed Matter Sciences, was presented with the award in the “Green Science & Technology” category. Yu-Chiang Frank Wang, Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, was presented with the award in the “Artificial Intelligence” category. This award is to encourage academic research published and to raise the technological level. Each award winner will be rewarded with a prize of NT$200,000.
