“New Moon Pavilion” will become not only a souvenir shop but a hub where NTU members and local communities to gather and exchange on creativity, heritage, and innovations.

On June 28 NTU held a gift ceremony to announce the donation from Liberty Stationery Corp. for the renovation of the “New Moon Pavilion” on the main campus, where a new souvenir shop will be opened. NTU President Wen-Chang Chen and Liberty Chairman Akiteru Kadota signed the gift agreement on behalf of both parties. The ceremony was conducted with grace and warmth. This new souvenir shop will bring charm and vitality to the campus, marking a milestone in NTU’s history. The endowment from Liberty aims to transform New Moon Pavilion into a space full of creativity, exhibitions, culture, technologies, where faculty and alumni can connect and create profound memories. We believe that New Moon Pavilion Souvenir Shop will become an iconic site for NTU members and local communities to gather and exchange on ideas, cultural heritage, and innovations. The space will be filled technological advancements as well as humanitarian spirits and historic vibe.

As the premier university in Taiwan, NTU has not only to stand out internationally but also to exert a positive social impact. Under this vision, the design and operation of the souvenir shop strive to build three connections: “Social Connection”, as themed events and book exhibitions in collaboration with NTU Press will be held to increase NTU’s social involvement and contributions; “Alumni Connection”, as the site will offer a service desk and a venue for alumni to come home and gather; and, lastly, “International Connection,” as NTU welcomes international students and visitors regularly, these rare guests may take a breather from their tour at the shop and browse through NTU exclusive souvenirs.

NTU anticipates that the New Moon Pavilion Souvenir Shop, set to open at the end of 2024, can become a major campus attraction. The shop will feature creative offerings such as limited-edition office staples, NTU-themed accessories, and exclusive apparels. These souvenir collections will reflect NTU’s rich history and culture while embodying modern design languages, providing unique and significant gifting options for alumni and visitors. President Wen-Chang Chen expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I look forward to New Moon Pavilion becoming a major attraction where NTU faculty, students, and alumni can have a great time and create beautiful memories. We also welcome outside visitors to experience NTU from a fresh perspective." Executive Vice President Shih-Torng Ding emphasized that the new souvenir shop will serve purposes far beyond selling souvenirs. It will be a platform for alumni to relax and connect and a cultural intersection for dialogues between NTU members and neighboring communities.

Founded nearly 80 years ago and standing strong for over three-quarters of a century, Liberty Corp. has long committed to the advancement of education and culture. This donation is a significant step in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. Chairman Akiteru Kadota stated, "We are honored to collaborate with NTU. By supporting the establishment of the New Moon Pavilion Souvenir Shop, we aim to contribute to the enrichment of NTU’s campus culture. This initiative is not only a part of our efforts to give back to society but also a concrete manifestation of our commitment to integrating creativity with education."

NTU hopes that the New Moon Pavilion Souvenir Shop will act as a window to campus innovations, injecting a high-tech vibe through the adoption of smart applications. For example, personalized product recommendations and digital hands-on experiences will allow users to learn about NTU in a fun and engaging way. The shop also plans to host various creative workshops and cultural exchange activities, inviting students and alumni to participate and spark more creative ideas. The establishment of the souvenir shop is expected to attract more alumni back to campus, enhancing their sense of identity with their alma mater and togetherness with each other.
