NTU’s RGB-Great Team, composed of graduate students from the Department of Bio-industiral Mechatronics Engineering, participated in the first “Utechzone Machine Vision Prize” Contest in July. After competing fiercely for two months, the NTU team sailed smoothly through preliminaries all the way to the finals, and finally emerged victorious against a field of 36 teams that are made of elites from other colleges and universities and the industries. With a phenomenal performance of 100% detection rate, 0% false detection rate, plus the ability to pass fast detection within 2 seconds, the NTU team took the highest honor by winning the first prize in “problem solving Category A: Defects Detection”.

The purpose of the contest was to strengthen the need for putting equal emphasis on academic research and practical applications in the area of machine vision, and to encourage both academic institutions and industries to get more involved in research /development and innovative application in related fields.

Four graduate students under the guidance of Dr. Lin Ta-te made up the NTU RGB-Great Team. Their true team spirit, and their superb ability at program design helped them to triumph over many competitors in this national contest.
