The annual university sports meet officially took place on March 31st and April 1st at the athletic field and the Sports Center on the main campus. In addition to activities which included track and field, team relay and tug of war, this year’s ball games had basketball and volleyball, with every college organizing a team to join the competition. The new addition to the Fun Games included the “10 men, 11 feet” fun race, with the winning team being awarded the prize of 10 bicycles. President of the University, Dr. Li Si-chen led top administrators to participate in the “800 meter team relay,”bringing the sports meet to a high climax.

As the Athletic Department pointed out, NTU has spared no effort in promoting sportsmanship, improving the health of the body and mind of faculty and staff, and tightening the bond between faculty and students. Besides the traditional marathon, the annual university sports meet is also a major sporting event. When held in March, the month of the Azalea Festival, the sports meet particularly highlights the vivacity and youthfulness of NTU members. In this year’s opening ceremony, the cheerleading group of Shih-hsin University and the martial arts team of NTU were specially invited to perform. As for the closing ceremony, a flamenco dance group led by Hsu Jin-syan(許金仙) put on a breathtaking show. Altogether, the sports meet was a wonderful event.
