Creating Asia's First Internet Live Broadcast Weather Forecast TV Station: NTU's Graduate Institute of Journalism Held Expository Session on May 14

NTU has another major innovation under planning! In order to enhance the professional image of journalists, after implementing the trailblazing "weather newscaster" professional course and initiating the category of weather journalism, the Center for Teaching Development of NTU goes one step further to collaborate with the Department of Atmospheric Sciences and the Multimedia center to create Asia's first internet live broadcast weather forecast TV station. Dr. Been-huang Chiang, Dean of Academic Affairs of NTU, Spearheads this unique project.

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences role is to edit the weather forecasting information provided by the Weather Bureau, and transform the infos into easy to comprehend everyday language, which, coupled with the anchormen and anchorwomen seedlings cultivated by the Graduate Institute of Journalism, the video production team from the Multimedia Center and website construction technology from the Center for Teaching Development, makes Asia's first internet live broadcast weather forecasting TV station ready to roll! Once in operation, this internet live weather forecast TV station will be a major milestone in that it integrates academic theories with broadcasting applications.

In the future, NTU plans to provide this service to 3G phone users and i-phone users by further integrating internet resources.
