NTU University Press has put its newly published life science multimedia series DVD on “Basic Instruments in Biochemical Experiments: Mr. Lizard’s Magic Salon Show” on distribution and sale.

As distinct from traditional chemical instrumentation, biochemical Experiment instruments have their special principles of design, and require very precise operation procedures. This is why the related departments in universities have to place special emphasis on courses related to bio-chemical experiments. To alleviate teaching burdens, to cope with increasing number of enrolled students and budgetary requirements, and to meet the demands of ever more complex experiment techniques, it is necessary to utilize multimedia materials to aid in the teaching or self-learning process.

This DVD series published by NTU University Press used professional filming equipments which produced high grade pictures and smooth colors. Also, the series of DVD utilized animation with real people to do demos, explaining vividly how each instrument is being used in bio-chemical labs. The usual problem of viewing angles encountered in traditional demos is avoided by filming techniques coupled with professional knowledge. In addition, interactive cartoon drop windows are added to systematically present each study theme, combining fun with learning, and resulting in a rich teaching resource for bio-chemical experiments.
