The Library of the College of Bioresources and Agriculture holds an open exhibition on Mitsuake Tanabe's art works on rice called "From Wild to Mild" on the fifth floor of its special archives district from September 18th to October 31st. This special exhibition is donated by the Orchid Fragrance Society of the Former Preparatory School of the Taipei Imperial University, and the contents of which include a 12 meter hand painted artwork of the wild rice, manuscripts by the "Father of Ponlai Rice" Eikichi Iso and his experiment equipments, samples of carbonized rice grains found in Taiwan, and multimedia display of the domestication process of rice, etc.

The Japanese artist Mitsuake Tanabe has devoted himself to the restoration work of wild rice in the international arena for many years. He creates giant works of artusing wild rice as the theme to promote the idea of rice conservation. This present exhibition, held under the auspices of the Orchid Fragrance Society of the Former Preparatory School of the Taipei Imperial University, will display a 12 meter hand painted artwork of wild rice which is donated to NTU by the Society, plus "Father of Ponlai Rice" Eikichi Iso's manuscripts and his experiment equipments in the early period and five batches of carbonized rice grains that were excavated in Taiwan over 600 to 4800 years ago, in line with the theme of the evolution of the wild rice. In addition, The National Museum of Natural Science offers multimedia display items to expound "the super continent theory" relating to the domestication process of wild rice, and the possible origin of planted rice in Taiwan in the last 5000 years.
