The 2007 exhibition on the results of the root-searching activities of the student associations held its opening ceremony at 2 p.m. in Room 107 of the First Student Activity Center on October 18th. Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Joyce Yen Feng, presided over the ceremony. Director of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Shen-tung, who also serves as senior Advisor to the Chinese Music Society, was invited to deliver a speech at the ceremony together with Professor Wen-tung Hsu, who is a senior alumnus of the World Folk Dance Club, and advisor to Yi-lan's International Toy Festival. In addition to performances by student associations, there were also DVD and documentary displays relating to the root-searching activity being put on exhibition. The exhibition dates are from October 18th to 24th, student associations which participated in the root-searching activity have their DVD's and brochures printed for public dissemination, all faculty and students are welcome to attend the exhibition.

During the activities, three lectures by prominent alumni will be held in the auditorium of the Student Activity Center. The dates, lecturers, and topics are as follows: first lecture will be held on October 16th (Tuesday) at 19:00 p.m., the lecturer will be Mr. Chih-cheng Lo, and the topic will be " Once upon a time"; the second lecture will be held on October 18th (Thursday), also at 19:00 p.m. The lecturer will be Professor Wei-hsin Sun, who will talk about "Chanting under the Starry Sky." The third lecture will be held on October 24th (Wednesday) at 19:00 p.m. The lecturer will be alumnus Miss Tieh-fei Li, who will talk about "extracurricular activities--one's best friend in life." This year's root-searching activities are organized by the Office of Extracurricular Activities of the Dean's Office of Student Affairs, along with the Photography Club, the Chinese Opera Research Society, The NTU Choir, The Balmy Wind Chinese Music Band, the Blue Sound Harmonica Club, the Art Society, the Modern Poetry Club, and the World Folk Dance Society, and co-sponsored by the Campus Guided Tour Society and the Student Television Station. The purposes of the root-searching activities are to understand the origin and development of student associations through involvement in root-searching, to grasp their tradition and characteristics, to solidity the passing-on of heritage, and to initiate new outlook and style for the student associations.
