Department of Physics Confers “Distinguished Chair Professor” Certificate on Dr. Chih-yuan Lu

Invited by the Department of Physics of NTU's College of Science, Dr. Chih-yuan Lu, CEO of Macronix International and Chairman of Ardentech, returned to his alma mater on September 20th to conduct exchanges. In the morning of that day, President Si-chen Lee personally conferred upon him the Certificate of “Distinguished Chair Professor.”

Mr. Chih-yuan Lu graduated from NTU's Department of Physics in 1972. Then he went to the United States to pursue his graduate studies. He obtained a Master's degree from Columbia University in New York in 1974, and subsequently acquired his doctoral degree from Columbia University in 1977.

On top of his remarkable experiences in the industrial circles, Dr. Lu is also quite successful in the academic field. He was elected fellow of APS, fellow of IEEE, he won the National Applied Science & Technology Prize from the Executive Yuan, and he also served as Deputy Director of ERSO of the Industrial Technology Research Institute, and chief project director for the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He has published more than 200 theses in many international conferences and technological journals, obtained more than 130 international patents, and been listed in many halls of fame, including “Who's Who in the World,” “American Men and Women of Science,” etc.
