Google officially launched Google Play Books in Asia-Pacific region on September 26. In collaboration with Google, National Taiwan University Press has for the first time made 50 eBooks available in nine APAC countries. The NTU Press will continue expanding its eBook selection, making quality scholarly publications available electronically to more readers across the globe and thus increasing the visibility of NTU Press publications.

This time Google expanded Play Books to include nine Asian-Pacific countries, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Users only need to sign in to personal Google Account to choose from millions of titles in Chinese and Foreign languages on the Play Books website. Currently Google Play Books is offering discounts and a free preview of sample titles. In addition, readers can read books on any device –computer, tablet, or smartphone running Android or iOS. Readers can enjoy reading on the web without missing a single page.

• On personal computers: readers can purchase and read books after signing in to Google Play through a web browser.
• On Android phones and tablets: readers can purchase books on Google Play and read with the Google Play Books app.
• On iPhone and iPad: Once you purchase a book via the web, go to the Apple App Store to download the latest Google Play Books app. You can enjoy reading books on your iPhone or iPad.

For all eBooks the NTU Press has obtained permission from the copyright owners for digital publication and distribution. Currently the eBook collection provides access to Chinese Literature and History Series and publications in Japanese and Spanish.
