The First Young Researcher in Taiwan honored with the Award "Best Young Researcher, the 3rd IEEE Asia-Pacific Young Researcher Award, 2007"

Congratulations! "IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Young Researcher Award", 2007 is awarded to Professor Phone Lin. This award is sponsored by IEEE APB (Asia-Pacific Board) and honors young researchers who have excellent achievements in Communications Society over the last 3 years. Prof. Phone Lin is also the first Taiwan person who wins this honor!

In 2007, the award selection committee reviewed all the applications (from the IEEE ComSoc members in the Asia-Pacific area) very carefully for two months. Note that there are totally about 70,000 members in IEEE ComSoc all over the world, which is one of the largest international academic research organizations. Finally, the committee selected Prof. Phone Lin as the Best Young Researcher. Prof. Lin has been honored with the "Best Young Researcher Award" at the APB meeting in the Globecom 2007 conference in Washington D.C., U.S.A. This award recognizes Prof. Lin's excellent contribution in Research on Design and Performance Modeling for Mobile Communications Network.

Prof. Lin has excellent contribution in mobile communications networks. In recent years, he focuses on the researches related to the mobile networking systems, which cover three important sub-topics, "Study on Mobility Management", "Resource Allocation", and "Design and Implementation for Application Platform for Heterogeneous Wireless Networks".

Prof. Phone Lin is the winner of the 2005 Wu Ta You Memorial award from National Science Council Taiwan, the winner of the 2004 Fu Ssu-Nien award from National Taiwan University, the winner of 2004 K. T. Li young researcher award from ACM Taipei/Taiwan Chapter, and the winner of 2004 research award for young researchers from Pan Wen-Yuan Foundation. Prof. Lin is an IEEE senior member and ACM member.

Besides, he is one of the Guest Editors of several important international journals. For example, IEEE Wireless Communications special issue on Mobility and Resource Management, ACM/Springer Mobile Networks and Applications Journal special issue on Broadnets. He is also an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technologies and an Associate Editorial Member for the WCMC Journal.
