In Celebration of 2008 Teacher's Day, President Lee Confers Numerous Awards on Outstanding Faculty The Teacher's Day celebration tea party was held on September 26th (Friday), at 10 a.m. in the first Conference Room

President Si-Chen Lee personally presided over the award-giving ceremony. Representatives from student associations presented flowers to faculty members to express their gratitude.

In his speech, President Lee thanked all award-winning faculty for their contributions to NTU during the past several decades, and also expressed appreciation to his colleagues who worked together to advance the rankings of NTU in the areas of teaching, research, and academics.

At the end of his speech, President Lee gave an outline of the key areas of university development for the future.

A total of 118 professors received awards on the Teacher's Day. The list of awards and honorees are as follows:

1. Outstanding Service Award: Recipients include Professor Lien-Siang Chou of the College of Life Sciences and 9 others
2. NTU Chair Professorship Award: Recipients include Professor Huei Wang of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and 2 others
3. Outstanding Research Award: Recipients include Professor Chun-chieh Wu of the College of Sciences and 25 others
4. Outstanding Teaching Award: Recipients include Professor Siu-Hung Lau of the College of Liberal Arts and 20 others
5. The Good Mentor Award: Recipients include Associate Professor Jia-Ling Hsu of the College of Liberal Arts and 7 others
6. Professor Emeritus Certificates: Recipients include Professor Din-Sue Fong of the College of Bio-resources and Agriculture and 12 others
7. The Honorary Award for Professors by Special Appointment: Recipients include Professor Yih-Yuh Chen of the College of Sciences and 7 others
8. Senior Outstanding Faculty Award (for those who have taught at NTU for more than 30 or 40 years): Recipients include Professor Chuen-Yin Liu of the College of Sciences and 25 others
9. Outstanding Research Innovation Award: Recipients include Professor Liang-Gee Chen of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and 2 others
