NTU Achieved Glory in Securing the 26th Spot in Webometrics
2009 World University Rankings

According to the database established for the European Commission's
"Science-Technology-Economy System" and "Web Indicators for Science and Technology" research projects, coupled with collation and evaluation of the data from well known search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Live_Search, Exalead, and Alexa, the Spanish National Research Council's Cybermetrics Lab last week announced the results of its Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. The released statistics showed that NTU advanced to the 26th place in the world, and was the only university from Taiwan to be among the top 100, second only to the Tokyo University of Japan in Asia.

The indicators for evaluation included content size, visibility, rich files and research output (scholar), and over 6000 universities from all over the world were ranked according to the sum of the weighted conversion percentage points. The top 21 spots were secured all by American universities, with Massachusetts Institute of Technology taking the lead, followed by Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley and Cornell.

Aside from American universities, the Cambridge University of UK ranked 22nd, Tokyo University of Japan ranked 24th, and National Taiwan University ranked 26th. NTU achieved amazing glory by moving up from 55th place last year to 26th place this year. Talk about leaps and bounds!!
