NTU Continues to be the first in Shanghai Jiao-Tong University's
Academic Ranking of World Universities in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
Now ranked 150th Place in the world, NTU breaks into the top 150

The Center for World Class Universities and the Institute of Higher Education of Shanghai Jiao-Tong University released the names of the top 500 universities in the world on October 30th. National Taiwan University continues to be ranked No. 1 in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China, and was ranked No. 150th globally. Last year, NTU was ranked 164th in the world Shanghai Jiao-Tong University's Academic Ranking of World Universities (Abbreviated as ARWU) emphasized the "academic performance" of the various universities under survey.

From 2003, it conducted the academic rankings of world universities, and the major indicators were: (1) number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes 10%; (2) Number of Nobel Prize and Fields Medal winners, 20%; (3) number of highly cited researchers 20%; (4) number of articles published in "Nature" and "Science", (5) number of articles indexed in SCI, SSCI, 20%, (6) per capita performance with respect to the size of an institution 10%. NTU's total score was 19.13.

In Shanghai Jiao-Tong University's Academic Ranking of World Universities, there are a number of universities from Taiwan that made to the top 500. They are, in order of their rankings: NTU at 150th place, National Cheng-Kung University at 262th place, Tsing-hua University at 302nd place, Chiao-tung University at 327th place, Chang-Gong University at 409th place, National Central University at 446th place, and National Yang-Ming University at 450th place.
