The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings by Subject listed National Taiwan University as one of the world’s top-ranking universities on February 26, 2014, with up to 26 subjects making the list among the 30 subjects in this year’s top 200 rankings.
Among the 3,002 schools included in the 2013/2014 rankings, 22 subjects at NTU were listed in the world’s top 100, with 10 of which ranked among the top 50. Our top 50 subjects include Electrical Engineering (20), Chemical Engineering (27), Earth & Marine Sciences (27), Civil & Structural Engineering (35), Mechanical Engineering (34), Chemistry (37), Medicine (43), Materials Science (44), Computer Science & Info Systems (45), and Accounting & Finance (48).
NTU has been able to advance in a variety of subjects under the continuous support of the Ministry of Education’s “Top University” project. In the future, NTU will continue to work towards educational refinement and academic excellence, while also enhancing our international competitiveness through the construction of a quality learning environment. We will persist in our task to cultivate leaders equipped with core competencies, humanitarian qualities as well as international competitiveness so that the students of NTU will continue to be ranked among world-class universities from all over the world.
QS is an international company based in Britain that began providing annual university ratings in 2011. The QS World University Rankings by Subject is conducted through the evaluation of 30 subjects among five faculties, and the rankings are compiled according to academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, as well as related data based on the H-index.
