NTU takes away Top 4 most popular
Chinese language online courses in Coursera Statistics

According to statistics of the world’s largest Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) education platform, Coursera, National Taiwan University’s is one of the world’s most popular online learning programs in the world.

The number of Chinese language courses on Coursera has rapidly increased since top-ranking universities such as China’s Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Fudan University entered the program. Nevertheless, NTU was able to stand out among the wide variety of courses and wrapped up the first to fourth place of most popular Chinese language courses in Coursera’s statistics. Our top-ranking courses include:

  1. Ancient Chinese History and Historical Characters: Qin Shi Huang.” Shih-Hao Lu, Lecturer, Department of History (total enrollment: 38,000; enrolment from China: 29,000)
  2. Probability.” Ping-Cheng Yeh, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering (total enrollment: 28,800; enrolment from China: 18,500)
  3. The Red Chamber Dream.” Li-Chuan Ou, Professor, Department of Chinese Literature (total enrollment: 19,000; enrolment from China: 14,800)
  4. Shi-ji (1).” Shih-Hao Lu, Lecturer, Department of History (total enrollment: 17.900; enrolment from China: 13,500)

In addition to the four courses, NTU provides a number of outstanding lessons in a variety of topics. These courses have also attained tens of thousands of enrollment and are widely loved by students throughout the net.

Under the current MOOC trend, NTU has gradually established itself as the number one brand for online Chinese language courses. In the future, we will continue to invest in MOOC projects to provide more quality programs; we will also continue to work towards maintaining Taiwan’s global influence in Chinese language Massive Online Open Courses.
