National Taiwan University’s varsity athletes performed outstandingly well at this year’s National Intercollegiate Athletic Games, breaking multiple records and bringing home a total of 23 golds, 17 silvers, and 19 bronzes.
The five-day event took place between May 17 to 21 at Yunlin University of Science and Technology with up to 9,502 athletes from 164 colleges and universities in participation. Our NTU athletes broke up to 34 intercollegiate records in 14 sports, one national record at the Men’s 50 meter Backstroke. We also won 18 fourth and fifth places, and 11, 6 and 19 sixth, seventh, and eighth places respectively.
As a whole, this year’s NIAG also saw the best performance from our nation’s athletes within recent years, with 10 national and 136 intercollegiate records being set despite the unstable weather.
