On June 7, National Taiwan University’s Class of 2014 was led by President Pan-Chyr Yang (楊泮池) in making a final pilgrimage around the campus ahead of celebrating the commencement of a new life ahead. This year’s graduation ceremony was centered around the spirits of inheritance, innovation, excellence, and dedication where the graduating students were encouraged to take on the responsibility of leading the society into better and more sustainable future.

In his address, President Yang hoped that the up to 10,000 graduates carry creativity, ambition, and a sense of altruism in caring for our land so as to make a bright future for themselves while making meaningful contributions to the world. He also encouraged the Class of 2014 to carry forward NTU’s emphasis on innovation in the workforce and continue to inspire change in the society.

NTU alumnus and tech tycoon, ASUSTek Chairman Jonney Shih (施崇棠), for his Commencement address, drew on his 50-year experience to inspire the graduating class. He encouraged the students to stay passionate and always hungry for knowledge, while reminding them to possess multiple talents so as to stay competitive, and never stop in their pursuit of excellence. Shih then concluded his address with a note to encourage the Class of 2014 to treat each and every life encounter as a path towards winning ultimate clarity and wisdom.
