National Taiwan University (NTU), National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) officially signed a letter of intent on June 10, 2014 to establish the Alliance of National Taiwan Universities, embarking on a path towards research cooperation and educational exchange.
As the three universities are in possession of distinct expertise, the universities’ respective resources shall be able to be integrated for maximum effect. The three institutes’ geographical proximity shall also make for the effective interchange of resources.
The letter of intent was outlined based on the principles of equality and mutual interest. The items of agreement include:
- Exchange of courses and credits
- Exchange and integration of library collections, computer hardware, software, and system resources
- Cooperation in conducting academic events and sharing of research resources
- Joint promotion of activities related to recruitment and examinations
- Collaborative promotion of international affairs and activities
- Joint implementation of faculty development programs, student organization activities, and athletic and sports events
- Collective organization of discussion forums, propositions, or research projects with regards to social issues
- The promotion of other matters of mutual interest for resource integration as well as educational and academic collaboration
